Caragh is a former Olympic rower. Herjourney through sport has been rocky to say the least. Caragh says sport savedher as a youth and continues to be her greatest self-management tool, but someof her worst experiences have also been born from high performance sport and aculture that is far from inclusive. These experiences has driven her to create changethrough her organisation Neurodiverse sport.
Toby shares his background as a special education teacher, his lived experience of head trauma and rehabilitation, and how it informs his inclusive coaching. They discuss Toby’s All Ability Sports Coaching in the Newcastle region, which delivers seasonal cricket and league tag, connects with mainstream clubs to provide facilities and pathways, and builds wider opportunities through trips and partnerships such as Cricket NSW Baggy Blues. Toby outlines his “speed of play” concept for grouping participants by task complexity and processing speed rather than impairment, and how it guides coaching, adaptations, engagement, and progression. They also cover his University of Newcastle teaching role, mindset shifts for inclusive practice, and Toby’s top inclusion tip: keep seeking answers when something isn’t working.
